Karate University is such an amazing place! My 8 and 6yo kids have been attending for about 6 months now. They have so much fun while learning. All of the instructors especially sensei Larry are super friendly, encouraging, and inclusive. They are not only imparting the karate skills but also life lessons (discipline, respect, confidence, focus, etc.) which are going to stay with my kids forever. They customize their teaching style to meet each student's needs & strengths. The staff is wonderful & always checks on us (we love Payton!). Joining KU has been one of the best choices we have made for our family.

My husband and oldest son came here in the early 2000s for karate. We have now since brought our son and daughter. Over the last 9 weeks. We have noticed a change in both our kids. Our son's respect and acknowledgement have blossomed. Our daughter has learned so much. And has created more confidence.

Karate university is awesome! My son absolutely loves the classes and the staff. The coaches are wonderful and Mr. Nuttal and his family are just amazing. They encourage these kids and know each ones individual strengths and weaknesses. They make it fun while also instilling discipline and respect.

Theyve been amazing for our son!

The management is unprofessional and they never do what they say they will do. Do you need a copy of your contract? We'll send it soon! Do you need a receipt? We'll give you one soon!
And then corporate calls your phone once a day for a month telling you, you never paid a they're going to charge your card information. I say I paid, they say the school never informed them.
Does this sound professional at all? Or like an unnecessary headache.
I tell this to the manager at the school, who thinks everything is funny and a joke. Says he'll get to it again. And the next few days I continue getting calls saying I still haven't paid.
Are you Kidding me?

EDIT: They fixed it, apologized and made up for it. I'm giving it 5 stars based solely on how much fun my son has, he's 4. I truly love the classes he goes to. Great family men are how I'd describe the teachers, with a positive attitude everyday. People I definitely want my son around. I also have fun just watching him learn. Great school.

Both of my children have achieved orange belt. Mr. Nuttal had been away when we first started, and we had no idea what we were missing until he returned! I am so blown away at how quickly my children are progressing.

His confidence, respect, discipline and determination have skyrocketed since joining, he looks forward to it, even when he knows it is a challenge sometimes, and takes it serious. He focuses in class and uses his newly learned skills in all aspects of his life, at home and when out in public. He has become noticeably more patient as well with younger siblings/children, teenage siblings and busy parents alike . He always is the first to volunteer and help others. Bob Nuttall , Mr. Galindo and Mr. Galligos have been wonderful teachers and the rest of the staff are very friendly and helpful to our whole family and we look forward to our lessons each day. Our son wanted to take karate and there was no question where we would take him. The Karate University has been serving Parker County for many years. Grand Master Bob Nuttall not only teaches karate but he also teaches respect and leadership. Good stuff!

My son didnt want to do it at first, after many intents in getting him to do a sport he just didnt find one he could stick with. Brought him in for a trial class and he still wasnt convinced but I signed him up regardless, not only for the physical part of it but for the mental part of it. It hasnt been a full month yet and I am seeing great improvement. Now he cant wait to go to karate and his manners and listening skills are much better!!!! It is a win win!! The staff if also great! I always feel welcomed by everyone.

I began participating in Karate classes at TKU in 2001. I have previous martial arts training and wanted to get back into it after many years of inactivity. TKU Instructors are extremely helpful and patient for anyone wishing to learn this style of American Karate. TKU is definitely the place to learn how to defend yourself and to build your self confidence and skills. Grand Master Nuttall still teaches classes from children, teens, through to adult and we always have a great time working out in his classes. Ms Hamilton, who has been teaching at TKU for many years, provides a balanced woman's perspective to martial arts training and holds us to very high standards. Guest instructors will often visit TKU and provide alternate perspectives to our style and training. Hence, the TRUE mixed martial arts (MMA) concept is realized.

From building your self esteem, challenging cardio workouts, learning the kata (dance), to outright sparring techniques - TKU offers the student a well balanced and very validated training opportunity.

Today, I am proud to say that I began as a white belt student, have gone through the arduous training and testing required, and have achieved my black belt. Kaden has been having so many problems at school and he had his first exceptional day today. He is so proud to be part of something and he’s very focused on using his manners and being respectful.

When my twins started at the University I was at my wits ends. Single with 5 year twins at age 54 is hard work. That is when their school teacher suggested I start them in some kind of after school activity, that is when I stumbled upon the TKU. The Twins will be 9 in July and have turned into little adults that focus most of the time but are still kids and make mistakes. They are green belts now and in Grand Master Bob Nuttell's intermediate class.

My 6 year old son attends The Karate University. I can’t say enough good things about the classes or the instructors. He has gained confidence, self esteem, and discipline. He lights up when class starts and has learned so much about karate. He’s also learned some pretty great life lessons here too.

The instructors are very polite and patient with my son. He has difficulty with attention and staying still and he’s been having a hard time in school with discipline. These gentlemen get down on his level and talk to him calmly and teach him how he can do better and they help him with eye contact, which he has a very hard time with. They are very respectful of all the children here and they are very attentive. I am very glad we took the step to put him in this program.

My son didn’t want to do it at first, after many intents in getting him to do a sport he just didnt find one he could stick with. Brought him in for a trial class and he still wasn’t convinced but I signed him up regardless, not only for the physical part of it but for the mental part of it. It hasn’t been a full month yet and I am seeing great improvement. Now he can’t wait to go to karate and his manners and listening skills are much better!!!! It is a win win!! The staff if also great! I always feel welcomed by everyone.

Yesterday I completed a Women’s Self Defense class at Karate University. WOW!! It was a Great class and so empowering! Bob Is a wonderful instructor. I recommend every woman to take this class. The Karate University is the best in the business owned operated by the same man since 1972 Mr. Bob Nuttall. The programs that are offered are above and beyond any other place I have ever seen and you will see results after just one class.

The management is unprofessional and they never do what they say they will do. Do you need a copy of your contract? We'll send it soon! Do you need a receipt? We'll give you one soon!
And then corporate calls your phone once a day for a month telling you, you never paid a they're going to charge your card information. I say I paid, they say the school never informed them.
Does this sound professional at all? Or like an unnecessary headache.
I tell this to the manager at the school, who thinks everything is funny and a joke. Says he'll get to it again. And the next few days I continue getting calls saying I still haven't paid.

EDIT: They fixed it, apologized and made up for it. I'm giving it 5 stars based solely on how much fun my son has, he's 4. I truly love the classes he goes to. Great family men are how I'd describe the teachers, with a positive attitude everyday. People I definitely want my son around. I also have fun just watching him learn. Great school.
